What next?

Tonight as the smoke was spilling from our microwave and the smell of burning plastic coated wires filled the kitchen I realized that yet another useful gadget, apparatus, appliance, electronic gizmo, or gas powered motor had just died the Nilsen death. Dave walked into the kitchen and burst into spontaneous laughter--what else can we do? This afternoon the well pump went out again, leaving our home without water until I could prime it and it decided to work. For the last week we have been living out of an ice chest because our less than 2 year old refrigerator stopped working. The compressor, condenser and one other part that I can't remember just gave up the ghost! Fortunately for us it was all covered on the warranty that I purchased at the time that I bought the fridge. Unfortunately, we had to wait for replacement parts and thus the ice chest for the last week. On Sunday our van didn't feel like starting (a 2 year long problem--that seems to allude all mechanics) so we enjoyed the beautiful weather and walked to church.

I began writing this post almost a month ago and today I want to inject here in the middle of it that our van is still not working and the well pump was out again yesterday...but our refrigerator is working along with the washer and dryer. It is the dishwasher not working that bothers the kids the most--ironically that has not really been a problem for me.

So what have we learned? There isn't enough time to be too upset and quite honestly we can live without most things for a while. I would love a working van and to have a pump that consistantly brought in my well water without problems but guess what...today I don't have either of those things and I am fine! The Lord loves us and that is all that matters...He will make all other things right and we will survive!
