You just don't get IT!

Okay, I have now heard that one too many times! Just what is IT that I don't get? Because I certainly understand that my kids think I don't get them but clearly that is not what they mean when they say that I don't get IT! What is 'it'? Could it be what they mean but don't say, what they say but don't mean, what they think but can't say, what they think they said but don't know how to say it, or what they said so clearly but didn't mean to say at all? I have no idea! It is abundantly clear to me right now that I do not even want to get IT at all! Just let it be said that maybe at the moment not getting IT is safer that having IT and not knowing what to do!
